Build It Up & 5Lion Ventures

Siamo orgogliosi di iniziare ufficialmente la collaborazione tra Build It Up e 5Lion Ventures, società di investimenti statunitense!

Greetings from Build It Up!

We are very excited, to officially start next year’s collaboration with 5Lion Ventures, a US-based early-stage investment company. With a series of posts over the next few months, we will introduce you to 5Lion’s vision, investment philosophy and future plans.
But let’s start from the very beginning.

What is 5Lion and how did we meet?

5Lion Ventures is a venture capital firm with offices in New York City and Washington, D.C. that provides seed, seed+, and series A funding to emerging tech start-ups. They are industry agnostic and look at a variety of different startup sectors such as AI, Deep Learning, Advertising, Cybersecurity, and Digital Payments. More recently they have been very interested in opportunities in: Healthcare, Preventative Health, and Wellness.
During the 2015 ESS (European Student Startups) event in London, 5Lion and Build It Up met. Shortly thereafter, 5Lion decided to lead the Seed series in Eyra, an AI start-up to which Build it Up made the introduction. The mission of Build It Up and 5Lion run on parallel tracks and we have been working together ever since.
5Lion’s underlying mission to invest in disruptive ideas and the people behind them. For this reason, it is critically important for 5Lion to establish and maintain relationships with organizations like Build It up. Meeting innovators and founders is the lifeblood of the investment philosophy. 5Lion believes that start-ups need non-financial resources as much as, if not more than, capital. At that early stage of development, companies have needs that extend far beyond funding.

Just to give you a little taste...

5Lion has invested in: BTLR, a concierge mobile platform allowing teams and venues to delight their customer base; Eyra, a dynamic company that creates portable devices using AI and Deep Learning for those with visual impairments; Emogi, a content engine for communication apps, and betterPT, a platform for clinic owners and consumers of physical therapy. For the moment, we won’t anticipate anything else. In the posts published on our Build It Up's Instagram and Facebook accounts, you will have the chance to get to know better the key people behind 5Lion and the start-ups in its portfolio.
